About the Club
The purpose of the Camera Club of Laguna Woods is to promote and advance the art of photography.
To do this, we hold the following periodic evaluations:
- Digital Evaluations with non-Club member judges

Camera Club 50th Anniversary
2016 marked the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Laguna Woods Camera Club. On April 20, the Mayor and City Council members of Laguna Woods presented a Certificate of Commendation to Camera Club President Mac McNamar and club officers Joel Goldstein and Mark Rabinowitch. For more information, read Joel Goldstein's excellent article about the club and view a copy of the certificate as well as a photograph commemmorating the ceremony on our 50th Anniversary Page.

Meetings
We meet twice a month, on the 2nd and 4th Mondays at The Laguna Woods Village Performing Arts Center (formerly Club House 3). One meeting is a digital image slide show presentation, and the other is a digital image critique by a professional judge or a speaker. These meetings are a good place to learn about photography and are free to Camera Club members or $3.00 fee for non-member guests, collected at the door. On the second Tuesday of each month we present a Photography Workshop in the Photography Classroom at Laguna Woods Village Clubhouse 4; a donation of $5.00 is suggested for these workshops. We also have annual dinners where awards are presented for prints and digital images; high point aggregate totals from the digital and print critiques for the past year are also presented awards.
End of Year Competition and Awards
At the end of the year, we hold a competition with three judges to select the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each category for prints and digital images and present awards to those winners. We learn a lot from the judges' comments on how to improve our photographs.
Aggregate totals are also calculated for each presenter in digital image and print critiques for the entire year and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each category are presented awards.
A summary of these awards can be accessed through the Winning Images Archive page.

Training
The Camera Club also provides training:
- Our monthly Photography Workshops provide presentations of techniques for taking better photographs and on how to use various computer programs to enhance your images.
- Our Fred Granger Learning Center provides hands-on training in using a variety of computer programs to organize and enhance your digital images.
Our workshop presenters, instructors, and training assistants are all volunteer members of your Camera Club. We would like to hear from you if you have experience presenting workshops, training instruction, have developed classes that can be presented in our Learning Center or have developed presentations that may be used for our monthly Special Interest Workshops. Please email lhcameraclub@comline.com, Subject: Education Committee with a brief description of your experience and educational product.
